Great News! We’re headed on our vacay today! Stay tuned on my instagram for up to date photos on our annual get away. See ya later snow!
Okay it’s not like I expect flowers, or even a card, but I do like the idea of celebrating love. We tend to surprise each other with little random surprises on random days like showing up with our favourite coffee, or a treat from one of our favourite bakeries out of the blue. Chris has sent flowers just because and that means so much during the year. But I like to make February 14th fun with a special little treat, or a fun breakfast with heart pancakes topped with a copious amount of red strawberries. You know, something to make the day special. I mean it’s fun on Easter, Halloween, and Christmas…so why would I leave out Valentines Day!?
With 2 little guys my heart is pretty much always goopy, so naturally I want to spend some time in the kitchen with my Raisins and make something fun with them. I’ve rallied up a few ideas we can do together above and I have a little feeling he will choose something with chocolate 🙂
Sophie has arrived for the second time in this household. Before Raisin was born (our first born) we received 3 of these as gifts. We kept one in the car seat, another by his crib, and another just around for grabs. For us it was a great gift. I’ve been blessed with 2 roley poley and drooly babies. Sophie has proven that she’s a great gummy toy for the both of them at this stage. The dogs go a bit bananas with the squeeking, but they just have to cope somehow!
Our littelest is loving her right now and she’ll be kicking around this pad for the next little while. Other big hits are the cloths with tags and crinkly sounds. It’s been a blast seeing the discoveries for a second time. I can’t wait to see what he wants to get into next!
I was going to make Thursday my day of good news and to make sure and treat myself at the same time. But when you have a baby you realize pretty quickly you have to adapt to their schedule. And seeing as how the littlest raisin needed to be home for the afternoon today I realized my initial plans needed to change! But it was actually pretty great. With my mom out of the country on a family emergency I’m helping out at my parents place as much as time allows. So the morning was spent there with family which is always great, and the afternoon was quiet with baby wearing, laundry folding, dinner making and dusting. May sound uneventful to some, but it was perfect in my books!
Hands up, who has a sit down desk job!? Me, me, me! I sit at my desk for 8 hours a day with earphones on while editing, project managing and creating video graphics. (Well pre mat leave anyways). So about half of the time those earphones are on with dead silence…that is until I was introduced into the wonderful world of podcasts! It quickly changed how my day flew by! Not to mention what I was exposed to in terms of opinions or listening to human interest stories, or how something came to be, or simply something funny intertwined with trivia I was into.
These are a few of the podcasts in my regular rotation. I do listen to way more than these, but I seem to always gravitate towards a select few. Podcasting is definately an easy way to pass the time walking the dogs, sitting at your desk working, while your cooking…you get the drill. Get into it if you dare, it’s a sweet little addiction!

Well it’s been 2,191 days together. There’s been lots of ups, some downs, loads of fun, a baby (now toddler) with another on the way, 2 doggies, trips, home renos, birthdays…you get the idea, plenty of things happen within 6 years! It’s been a ride of course but one I wouldn’t change. I loved every second of our wedding day and whenever I look at our photo album, or recount all the parties, champagne toasts and sorting out all the details leading up to was such an adventure and natural high. I’m looking forward to all of our anniversaries that follow this one. xoxo.

So I kind of go through this phase every 3 months. I contemplate on what colour I want my hair to transform into. Truth is I’ve sorta damaged it a bit with going lighter, and using one too many hot tools. I’ve given my hair a much needed time out from the flat iron and have been trying to moisturize it as much as possible. That said it’s not really growing out as fast as I’d like it to, aaand I’m thinking of getting some extensions to make up for my poor choices. I mean at least it’ll resemble what length I’d like it to be that way right?!
I have a Pinterest board with a bunch of hair ideas and tutorials, but right now my go it is the standard side swept pony tail. Easy, no fuss, no need for obscene amounts of product, and it’s timeless. But I’m yawning at the site of it. I miss using my flat iron to make beach waves, but I know I shouldn’t and it’s driving me a bit banana’s. I’m going to show this hair colour to my stylist at our next visit, which I have yet to book and see if we can go through with it without killing my hair even more!
I’m craving something thirst quenching these days. Water with mint leaves is totally tasty without a doubt, but I’d be lying if I said I don’t miss having that glass of white wine, or an occasional margarita on the weekends.
With summer fast approaching it’s going to be even HARDER watching everyone enjoy a little somethin’ somethin’. Just because I’m pregnant that doesn’t mean I can’t have a fun concoction of my own to drink! So, I’ve been cruising the wonderful world of pinterest and found a few mocktails that I may just have to try sooner than later.
I’m not a barista by any means, but I’ll have to get a little crafier than popping open a bottle of wine for obvious reasons. If it means pretty glass wear, and plenty of garnishes, I’m totally down with that. Time to start making lots of ice for some of these fancy drinks. Stay hydrated my friends.
Right now I’m watching Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves, but rewind to 45 minutes ago and we were in full blown tummy ache toddler town. Population: 1. Hooooooly moly, I’ve never experienced this with Raisin before! Lets just say there were 2 solid hours of crying. (insert super sad mama face here)
The scene of the crime: our annual NHL family Jets game we take Raisin to. Right now we can only hit up a game that lands on a Saturday at 2 pm with Raisin given his nap schedule (FYI don’t mess with my nap schedule – it was a long road, and a massive accomplishment!). Moving on…you’d think the tummy ache would have been due to candy from Halloween or something, right? But nope! So not the case. The culprit: popcorn and a massive dose of water. Who knew!? This will be the first, and last time we ever give him popcorn – I don’t think I’ve ever seen him so uncomfortable, ever. He would sob my name over, and over, and over again. Coupled with groaning, and grunting…my heart was breaking! I’ve logged many hours on that glider in his room, and today we added another two hours straight. And on top of his sore tummy, we still had to force a dose of antibiotics down his throat as he’s still has a few left from when he was diagnosed with pneumonia. Let me tell ya, a tummy ache, and giving a toddler medicine that tastes like feet for a previous illness, is not the loveliest combo for any parent. Stating the obvious, yes I’m aware!
The saving grace here is that it’s daylight savings so we get an extra hour of sleep…so needed. I’m sure Chris and I will be tag teaming the night to mend this little boys sore belly. Fingers are crossed for a smooth evening!
Just so ya know, before this popcorn fiasco, he REALLY did love the game. The highlight – seeing the Zambonis!
