Who’s with me when you feel like you are CONSTANTLY cleaning? Picking up toys, straightening out shoes in the back entrance, dusting down the shelves for the 2nd time during the week…blah, blah, wipe, sweep etc. I feel like it never ends! I’m also a bit OCD in the tidiness factor, although lately you wouldn’t be able to tell with the current state of our basement and office – whoops!
I remember during my first mat leave I had a little schedule I liked to keep to. Monday: bathrooms, Tuesday: mopping, Wednesday: dusting, Thursday: vacuum, Friday: laundry – aaaand repeat as needed. Then I went back to work and I’d try to cram a few chores in the evenings or on the weekend. Now that schedule doesn’t exist and I feel like I’m all over the place with when to do what on which day. I mean daily I sweep and do a general tidying up, I’ll wipe things down etc, but I have no set schedule. And helllllooooo, I missed the memo of when you go from one child to two, you’re literally doing laundry every other day!
One late night nursing I stumbled across this on my iPhone and thought it was a great way to kickstart a routine of clean around here! The headline says it’s extreme, but I like the way this guy thinks!
I love the way a clean house smells, or freshly dried sheets. It makes me feel all sorts of happy. I’ve already started following that schedule this week and am feeling more organized. I’m all ears for tips and suggestions if you’ve got them. Now excuse me while I sweep up some cheerios and goldfish crackers from my kitchen floor.
