Sunday was hands down a major one. It was over the top awesome! I slept in till 7:30 a.m…yes that’s sleeping in around here in case you’re wondering. We started our weekend morning as per usual, in pj’s with coffee for us, and of course some steamed milk with foam for Raisin which he gets to top with a sprinkle of cinnamon sugar. Then we hit the ground running with a few morning errands. Once we were settled back home it was a day of smoking a beef tenderloin on the BBQ for hours while enjoying our day outside prepping for a late afternoon/evening celebration.
It was the first time we’ve been in the city for the weekend in a long time, and it was kind of a nice switch up. Our family was coming over for our annual Jets draw for our shared tickets, and it always happens to coincide with my birthday! Everyone wins 🙂
I felt over the top spoiled between all the pressies, family fun and food. Of course there’s always loads to go around and although I’m not a MasterChef worthy participant, my family knows I love experimenting in the kitchen – enter one of my gifts – a cookbook! My brother-in-law gave it to me and funny enough I had been eyeing it up online so I was soooo surprised when I opened it up.
I love a cookbook with lots of pictures + recipes I can’t wait to get my hands on. Not to mention testing out dishes that I would never have thought of otherwise. This cookbook has some pretty great reviews, and amazing recipes to back it up – plus they’re all vegetarian dishes too! So no excuses on not getting enough veggies in our daily diets. It totally uses ingredients that I’m likely to have on hand or can find easy substitutes. I’m pumped that I can make new recipes from this book that I can actually make during the week and not have to wait until the weekend to try something new or special. I’m totally looking forward to some fun and fresh recipes to spice up my regular rotation in the kitchen. Happy Birthday to me indeed.
