It’s no secret, Raisin LOVES anything with wheels. Especially construction trucks, and convertibles. So we decided to make his birthday weekend filled with all of those things! When I asked him if he wanted his birthday to be about trucks – well he pretty much shouted “YEAH!” So the starting point was easy enough. Then Chris came up with the most fabulous idea ever. Let’s get a convertible for the weekend and really knock Raisin off his feet. So after work we met up at home in the loaner convertible and drove (roof down of course) to pick him up. When we walked outside and asked Raisin to guess which car he was going into, and we pointed towards the convertible he looked at us and said..woooow. He ran over and started calling it his immediately. Best surprise ever!
He had a birthday weekend (the only kind, am I right!?) Saturday kicked us off decorating his car cake for his afternoons’ bday party with both sets of grandparents. He had the best time, including ALL of us too! With the temps soaring it was such a treat to have the party at Nana and Papa’s and all be swimming in the pool. Raisin couldn’t stop jumping in and pretty much entertaining us all. Time flew by and before we knew it we had to gobble down dinner and eat his cake pretty quickly!
Then Sunday morning hits! We started the day with giving Raisin his present – a scooter which he totally fell in love with. We drove over to a park and walked while he rolled around for almost 2 hours!
Before we knew it, the afternoon party was around the corner! The one with his little friends held at Gymboree Play and Music. The truck theme was a hit! All the activities revolved around trucks.
Truck rides, truck car wash, truck repair shop, truck races…it was Raisins’ little dream come to life! And wow, does Gymboree know what they’re doing – totally recommend it for anyone wanting to throw a party or go for classes!
The snacks were simple, Nut’s N’ Bolts, Pineapple, Carrots and Celery, Mini Doughnuts, Goldfish Crackers, Grapes, Juice, Pizza and Cake of course. I had all the trucks on hand from the wack load of Raisins’ toys and displayed each snack within a truck. So pretty simple! After the 2.5 hour party we handed out each little party guest a pail and shovel filled with treats and trinkets and called it a day.
It was a packed weekend, but filled with joy for all of us. I’ve always loved birthdays before, but when Raisin joined our family, birthday celebrations mean so much more to me! Happy Birthday little man, we love you more than you’ll ever know! xo.
