Hello Monday and Wednesday, you’ve officially become the busiest week in our household hands down. And I’m sure all the parents we see on the soccer field on these 2 days feel the exact same way. Even more so if they have an extra child or two in tow!
I didn’t grow up in a house where we had arranged sports right after school – we actually went to MORE school. Yaaaay…right? My parents immigrated from Portugal and to keep up with our roots they sent us to Portuguese school in the evenings. This was fun until it wasn’t anymore for my brother and I. But it was a good experience while it lasted. That said I’m sure it was busy for them to get us off to another school, just as it is for us to get the Raisin to his TimBits Soccer game twice a week! He’s more excited now than he was before to go, but I think it’s because we get there early enough to tackle some time on the play structure and have a little pregame soccer warm up of his own. The slide is the winner hands down.
The soccer practice and game are fun, and of course full of hilarious toddlers somersaulting down the field or running around pylons, or into the net. It’s totally entertaining to watch, and a huge kudos to the volunteer coaches! Sometimes I think I need to bring some popcorn to watch the show. But aside from how cute and hilarious it is, it’s nice to run into other parents we know and can chat to in between the controlled chaos.
Today will be a big day, more so for us because it’s picture day on the field. I’ll be the parent who carries the photo in her wallet, shamelessly showing it to friends and family. That’s totally cool though right? Hopefully all the kids will be ready for photos by the time the game is done. Usually Raisins’ shut down 10 minutes before shaking hands and is into his snack in full force. I’m giving a huge shout out to the photographers in advance to take a team photo with kids who have crazy adrenaline running through their tiny little bodies! That’s a challenge in itself! See ya on the soccer field.
