Roses and chocolates step aside – you’ve been trumped this Valentine’s Day. I mean I’ll take chocolate any day, and as for roses, welllll they’ve never really been my jam. My heart belongs to hydrangeas, peonies, and lily of the valley. But aside from all that, how about we take it up a notch and spruce up Valentine’s Day with a few fun cocktails instead?
Seriously, have I been living under a rock? I focus on cocktails for Christmas, birthdays, and dinner parties, but for some reason Valentine’s Day got the snub. Okay, wait a second. It’s not like we suffered by drinking liquid love made of prosecco or champagne the day of, but I never really came up with anything fun to drink. Experimenting with new drink ideas during the holidays, or fun occasions like halloween and easter are all part of the fun, right? So why have I neglected Valentine’s Day? I guess it’s easy to fall into the same old habits like chocolates and cards, but not for 2015 – bring on the fun cocktails!
Next weekend I may mix up a lemonade blood orange mimosa to kick off a fun family brunch. Or, perhaps I’ll wait for lunch and make a sparkling rose sangria. Now that I have this idea in my head – it’s on! Bring on the bubbly but with a twist. Cupid may be a little generous filling up your glass if you come over for a little sip. Spread the love, right?
