Jealous? You should be. Why? Because I made my first “official” smore of the season this long weekend. When I say “official” I mean over a real fire. And really, this isn’t the first one I’ve made this year…let’s just say the microwave can nuke a pretty damn good marshmallow.
I actually think of the four seasons as the following: Fall, Winter, Spring, Smores. Every weekend at the lake, I somehow manage to make one of these tasty treats. And there is a WHOLE wack of varieties you can make. I have a little obsession with this easy, and classic dessert. Check out my Pinterest board dedicated to these guys. I’m happy to admit I’ve made more than 70% of what’s posted there!
I think everyone can remember when they had their first smore. I wonder if they all tend to revolve around camping? Anyhow, that’s when my love affair began with this traditional campfire treat. Whoever invented it…THANK-YOU! The smores intro into my life was actually the first camping trip I ever went on in grade 8. We did the whole: how many marshmallows can you put in your mouth and say chubby bunny game. Talk about hilarious! I didn’t win..but tried damn hard to! But aside from that, we made smores. From that moment on, I was hooked!!! One of these days I’ll need an intervention. Hello. My name is Marta, and I’m addicted to smores.
Want to know how addicted? So addicted that we made it the favor at our wedding. We brought in fire pits for the evening so that people could roast their own marshmallows if they wanted to outside, and enjoy a breath of fresh air…but then come back in and dance the night away. Best night ever! We created these little kits, and added this write up to add inside of them below.
We make them pretty often every summer weekend down at the lake. There’s something about a bon fire at night underneath the stars that brings me to a place of serenity. I love that campfire smell, the crackling sound of wood popping, and bonus – the fact that I can use it to roast a marshmallow…score!
Needless to say, I am so pumped the smores’ season has begun. Hopefully you’ll be sitting around a bonfire one night, and the mood will strike you to make a smore! And if you haven’t ever had one, do yourself a favor – make one of these, you won’t regret it!
The Easiest Recpie You’ll EVER Make: S’MORES!
1 Large Marshmallow
1 Graham Cracker
1 Chocolate Bar (I love Lindt 70% Cocoa)
01 – Using a stick, or a “marshmallow fork”. Heat the marshmallow over an open flame until it begins to brown & melt. Or if this is more your bag, let it catch on fire and burn!
02– Break a graham cracker in half. Take the melted marshmallow and sandwich it with the chocolate between the two crackers. Let it rest for a second before you bite it, trust me…I’ve learned the hard way!
