a) don’t love flowers, or
b) enjoy having a backyard oasis to come home to everyday.
So regardless of my flower knowledge ..I take a stab at it. What works out nicely around here is I don’t mind planting, (I’ve learned from the best – thanks Mama) but I hate watering! Lucky for me, Chris doesn’t mind it! Otherwise we’d have a serious cement jungle out back.
As part of my Mother’s Day gift, my mom bought two baskets of begonias which is motivating me to get things going around here. (If you ever need gardening advice, she’s pretty much a guru) Aside from that, I’m also seeing some hostas slowly emerging from the ground, and another couple of vines that I honestly can’t name, but I can tell you they bloom pretty purple flowers! And my favourite flower buds are poking through on our hydrangea bush ..so things are looking good so far!
Back to these begonias. We’ve got some colour now! I put one in a pot out front to change up the winter/fall arrangement we usually have out. I have yet to put two more pots right in front bookending the steps, but at least we have a start happening people! Check out the swap below….if you look closely you may see a couple friends looking out the front door!
Pretty nice to have a pop of colour out front now. Once this guy starts growing it gets outta control! These flowers love shade as well, so they’re pretty low maintenance (yaaay my favorite kind)!
For our backyard, I added the other begonia in a pot my mom bought us as a housewarming gift when we moved into this pad. Check out the before and after.
A small start, but a start nonetheless! I’m hoping the rain stays away on the weekend so we can work out back. Either way we’ll have to hit up Shelmerdines, Costco, and a few other favourite places to grab some flowers to brighten up the garden! Throwing it out there, If anyone has some rubarb…I’d love to grab it off you! Happy Gardening!
