Check out these two little buddies. Super cute, hey? An apple and a raisin – the best combo if you ask me. Mason’s been pals with little Audrey Apple since before he was born! I swear looking at the photos of these cuties makes me think of the couple in Pixar’s UP, (but without the super sad montage that made me cry less than 5 min into the movie) they’re just a sweet little match. It’s so amazing to watch this relationship develop over time! (Can someone please hit pause!?)
Back in the glorious days of mat leave, I’d meet up with my pal MP for a weekly playdate – that is if both babies slept, were in good moods, and we could get out the door for the window between nap times!
When we did see each other, it was amazing on many levels. For one, it was nice to interact with someone else that could actually talk back to you! The simple pleasure of having a conversation with another human being was always a breath of fresh air. Sometimes I wonder if the baristas at Starbucks wondered what was up with me. Whenver I’d manage to get out for a coffee with Mason in tow, I would chat their ear off! And pretty much with whoever I could, whenever I could! Needless to say weekly playdates were always something to look forward to! Aside from it being my own little “break” of the day when we’d get together, it was always adorable to see these two interacting. I always felt lucky to have a great friend to share this special time in our lives – watching our little babies grow, and better yet – with each other. Aside from that, it was awesome that I had MP to chat with, laugh with, and when the time called for it, vent with!
With each playdate, we’ve seen these two grow in front of our eyes, and have celebrated birthday’s, Christmas’, New Years, and so much more!
Now that we’re both working mama’s, when our busy schedules allow we try to see each other whenever we can. Watching Mase and Audrey play now, is so different from when they were infants who were just learning to hold up their little bodies during tummy time, or starting to eat solids, or when they were slowly learning to take their first few steps. Fast-forward to yesterday, and they’re running around, chattering, taking toys from each other, and climbing all over everything. When did this happen people!? Things.have.changed!
I absolutely love their little connection. I can’t wait to see these two grow into better buddies then they are today. I have visions in the future of telling them stories about how they were hanging out before they could even talk. Of course that story will be told right after I explain how I used to have to walk to the store to rent a movie that were on these things called VHS tapes…and if I didn’t rewind it, and return it by 6 p.m. the next day, I would get charged. Can you believe this story will take place of the one our parents told us of having to walk miles and miles to get to school!?
Anyhow, in the meantime, I’m looking forward to more playdates with one of Masons’ first little friends! Cheers to fun times ahead and to creating more memories!
